As many of you already know,I am not the biggest soccer fan in the world. In fact, I quite far from it. However, my interest in the sport has gained a little steam recently all thanks to the World Cup.
I am a huge fan of the World Cup. Not so much for the games themselves, but for what the World Cup acts as throughout the world. The World Cup is as much as uniting source for many of athletes, people, and cultures all around the world as it is an actual competition. The competition just adds an extra dimension to the meeting. How often dou see this amount of players from different countries competing, outside of the Olympic Games, playing and celebrating together? The Olympics features a variety of sports, but the World Cup unites all these countries around just a single sport and that is what I think makes it even more intriguing then the actual Olympic Games.
I have seen a bunch of games so far; a bunch more soccer games than I had seen in my life. It is a new experience for me and it is slowly growing in my mind. I cannot promise I will watch soccer after this tournament, but I am very impressed in what I have seen so far and what the World Cup does for those 32 countries every 4 years.
Oh and Let's Go USA!
